Entourage lose against Stanford by 30 runs

Report by Babaprasad

Stanford 156 in 20 overs beat Entourage 126 (Jag 68)

First innings: Deciding whether to bat or bowl first is not always a straightforward decision for a captain, but Entrourage was very clear on that and wanted to bat once after winning the toss.(But unfortunately we lost the toss and were forced to bowl)

We got the first jolt when we lost to unavailability two of the inform batsman Ranjan, Narsi. The second jolt when we lost the toss on a hot sunny day.

The team was very enthusiastic with two wins under the belt, were raring to go on to the field for their third “W” with a relatively experienced side.

Sohail started the proceedings for Entrourage very positive, started swinging the ball. The opening pair (Sohail and Megraj) bowled some tight line with no luck. Ahsan, who made the most of the conditions, three wickets were picked by him, first break through with Hari S hanging on to screamer at long on. (We can call it a blinder) and in his second over (Ahsan) he deceived the batsman with a wonderful slower ball and bowled him (the batsman had no clue).

Sanket bowled well and picked up two crucial wickets with his brilliant off spinner and couples of catches were dropped of his bowling which was also a relief to the opposite batsman. The other bowlers could not keep the pressure onto opposite batsman by bowling lose deliveries and equally disturbed by poor fielding standards.

Entrourage could not keep the momentum, lost their way and allowed Stanford to score 156. It could, and perhaps should, have been even fewer.

Second Innings: Entrourage started the innings with inform opening pair Jag and Sanket. We didn’t start particularly well as a batting unit.

Sanket, got out cheaply without troubling the scorers. Raj B, was the number 3 batsman, who too got out cheaply to the same shot which has been haunting him all season. From the other end, Jag was playing his shots to keep the scoreboard ticking; he played few brilliant shots just to keep the pressure out from other batsman.

Giri bhai joined Jag for some time, unfortunately got out playing a big shot and holding on to long off. Baba stepped in at 5 tried to play some shots but he too got out leaving jag alone to handle the pressure and the game.

The entire pressure was on Jag as the batsmen were falling like nine pins. He got out for a very well-made 68; such a brilliant innings went in vain as the other batsman could not hold onto the pressure. Finally Entrourage lost the game by 30 runs.
