Asteroids won the toss and elected to bat on bright day. Priyankar and Arun D started the innings and after 5 overs Priyankar was caught at mid-on trying to go over the top. 1 wicket lead to another with Jwal getting out the next over being caught at second slip. Asif came in next was just when he was looking settled he got out to a good yorker. Akshay who was in good form in the last few match joined Arun and then formed a good partnership. Akshay was looking set for a good innings got out trying to go over mid off. Vishnu and Arun then decided not to give away there wicket and played well by just taking singles and keeping the score board ticking.
At the end of 30 overs, Asteroids were around 65/4. Arun was the set batsman and decided to play till the very end. He didn’t do anything fancy but kept the scoreboard ticking. Vishnu got out trying to up the run rate. Rohan and Arun put on another 30 in the next 5 overs. Wickets kept falling and runs kept coming but Arun stood solid at one end. Arun looked like he was going to carry his bat through but was run out to a direct hit from the mid off boundary. Venky was out of inside edge and Megharaj hit a only and biggest 6 of the match. Asteroid were all out for 150 at the end of first innings.
Having 150 on board, Asteroids were very confident. Vishnu started the proceedings with wicket of the very first ball, Marin had already lost there confidence. Tight line from Vishnu and Pramod got the second wicket to Pramod. Megharaj replaced Vishnu and Chetan replaced Pramod. Megharaj was in a miserly mood and gave nothing to the batsmen. This bought an immediate run out with some smart work from Megharaj. Chetan toiled with the batsmen and kept getting the breakthroughs with fielders supporting him. Wickets kept falling for Marin with none of the top 6 batsmen making double digits. Arun made some smart bowling changes and bowlers did what the captain asked of them. Megharaj bowled 4 maidens in his spell and Asif got a wicket. Chetan finished Marin off to get his 5 wickets. The last 2 catches were taken by Jwal with little sweat at deep midwicket.
Pros : Arun showed the value of holding wicket will the very end, bowlers bowled to the plan, fielders taking majority of catches with add pressure on the oppositions, last 15 overs bought 90 runs cos we have wickets in hand.
