Dynamos Batting:
Dynamos started their batting with Venky and Priyankar with clear instructions of staying on the wicket for a minimum of 10 overs without any funny business and both fine gentlemen did just what doctor ordered. In initial 10 overs, Dynamos were sitting pretty with 28 runs on the board without loss. As the break got closer, Priyankar holed out to deep mid-wicket and Venky perished with a soft dismissal at point. Sent in to stabilize the innings Nabeel and Amar started milking the bowlers for singles and doubles and were doing decently well, until Amar edged one behind the stumps this time.
After 17 overs, Dynamos were sitting in a well familiar situation where the scoreboard read 48 for the loss of 3 wickets. In goes the Iron man of Dynamos, Santosh to take the attack to the opposition and boy did he deliver! From the 1st ball he faced, which by the way was dispatched mercilessly to boundary, he looked in a prime touch. Well supported by Nabeel on the other end, the dynamic duo built a good partnership that took D-mos past their 2nd break and the scoreboard read 108/3 in 30 overs.
At this point Dynamos looked ready to put up a big score on the ground until Nabeel and Santosh fell in next 3 overs. After their dismissal, as it has often happened this season, flood gates opened and batsmen started getting out and wickets fell as if they were house of cards. From 108/3 in 30 overs, Dynamos went 148 all out in 40 overs.
Dynamos Bowling:
Dynamos started with a fighting spirit with Sohail on one end and Pramod on the other. Sohail had issues in getting his line and length during his first over, whereas Pramod on the other hand barely gave any room to the opposition. In the 4th over, Pramod struck getting the batsman bowled on a ball that pitched outside leg and came back in to hit stumps. Dynamos smelled blood, and continued with opening duo as Cavaliers batsmen played cautiously. As the oppositions runs dried up, not getting wickets led to low spirits in the field for Dynamos.
It was obvious to see the low morale as the team started to leak runs on multiple occasions and Cavaliers without any hesitation kept stealing singles from right under our nose and kept the scoreboard ticking. Any bowling change made was welcomed by Cavaliers and even took Dynamos part spinners for some leather hunt. Bowling full tosses definitely didn’t help the matters either.
Nabeel was brought in from the school end and he struck twice in the same over removing Jay Mehta and Neil. Meghraj came in steaming from the other end and made new batsmen’s life miserable in the middle. Nabeel struck once more (a screaming C&B) this time to help Dynamos’ cause. That jolt of life came in too late as Cavaliers were practically home by then. Cavaliers ended up chasing down the target in 28 overs while teaching us about running on our own home ground.
Positives: Top order executed their innings well
Negatives: Middle and lower middle lower order batting collapse with mind numbing running between the wickets, pathetic fielding within 30 yrd circle, dropped shoulders while defending the total, and refusing to put up a fight when things got a little harder.
