Game Story:
Dynamos Batting:
Dynamos’ first game of the season began in high spirits as everyone came in hungry to play and start the summer season with a bang. Sunder, the skippy skip won the toss and without a slight bit of hesitation elected to bat first. Dynamos’ guns named Jagga daaku (Jag) and Raj bhai started the game slow and good intent. In the 3rd over of the innings, first umpiring blunder came around when Jag was given out, caught on a lowly and a quick short one hopper catch in cover region claimed by the fielder. Soon enough Raj bhai followed the back to pavilion mistiming the shot to the mid-on region. Baba ka dhaaba and (Fuffy) Shashi tried to steady the innings and moved the scoreboard at a slow pace to avoid any further damage, as the scoreboard read 20 odd runs in 10 overs for the loss of 2 wickets. Before the 1st break Dynamos’ saw another 2 wickets tumble as Baba and Shashank departed with a score of 46/4 in 15 overs.
After the break, in went stars of the day for Dynamos’ Tandoori (Santosh) and skippy skip Sunder babu having their work cut out for them. The goal was to rotate the strike and dispatch anything bad to the fence. Believe or not, Tandoori took this quite too seriously as he was the first Dynamos’ person to hit a boundary after about 17 overs. Skippy skip ran hard in between the wickets to keep the scoreboard ticking and on the other hand Tandoori started to demolish United’s bowling hitting towering 6’s and hard hit 4’s on a ground that looked a lot like Ortega’s jungle equivalent grass especially on the fences. For the next 15 overs Dynamos’ were cruising well with no further damage and the scoreboard read 135/4 in 30 overs.
The game plan for Dynamos was pretty simple and straight forward after the 2nd break which was to bat around Tandoori since he was taking United for leather hunt and he did that well entire innings. Soon after the 2nd break, skippy skip perished to a run out. Mayo (Mayank), Baby T-shirt (Atif), and Ek Ehsaan (Ahsan) rallied around Santosh to keep the scoreboard ticking with their stay at the wicket as he brought up his well-made maiden century. At the end Dynamos innings that started in a haywire mode was steered correct with responsible show from Sunder and Santosh where they ended up with a respectable 253/9 in their allotted 45 overs.
United Batting:
Dynamos after a good lunch and having witnessed some good batting display started on the field with Baby T-shirt and Sohail on two ends. Baby T-shirt started the proceedings and got Sushil one of United’s opening hitters to pop one on the very 1st ball of the innings only to see a catch misjudged on the fence and watch it sail over fielder’s head. Next ball – guess what? Genius strikes next ball and picks an lbw of the same batsman. After Sushil’s departure; United’s innings slowed down as expected as two defensive players were on the pitch but they did not let go of any bad balls and dispatched them to boundaries and kept the scoreboard ticking.
Those batsmen worked hard and ran well in between the wickets and brought up a century stand. Baboo of United started to play aggressive as they got closer to the 1st break and lobbed a catch to long on where the fielder ran well to fetch it only to watch it slip away from his hands. Dynamos were in a precarious situation at this point as United was scoring at a brisk rate of over 6 RPO. At 1st break score read high 90s for the loss of one wicket. Game plan for 2nd break was clear to go after wickets…and surely enough fluffy started to attack from one end and got one of the batsmen to edge one to square leg in hungry hands of Ek Ehsaan where the ball popped out and had everyone hearts sink for second; but managed to fall back in his bucket hands.
Soon after Sunder got Baboo bhaiya’s wicket as he got him bowled and Dynamos smelled what was cookin’ and started to fight back with some tight bowling. Harry S and Satbir started their innings with caution while rotating strike and dispatching anything lose to the fence mercilessly. Fluffy got Harry C&B but umpire decided to not give him out as he was found sleeping on square leg and thought ball bounced just before Shashank’s awaiting hands. With a lucky reprieve; United took the attack to Dynamos and started hitting practically everything out of the park.
Sunder introduced Atif from Jungle end and he delivered with his 1st ball and had Harry caught behind; but the main umpire decided to play spoil sport this time and gift wrapped the match to the opposition. Dynamos lost hope there after, with their shoulders dropped they started to bowl lose balls and dropped another couple catches which sealed the game for the opposition as they won with 7 wickets.
