Blazers Innings: Jimmy and Natty walked in to start the innings for Blazers knowing that we had to win really big to cement #1 position. Both of them were cautious to start with. They respected the good balls and dispatched anything loose. Soon they had racked up a 50 run opening stand in just 8 overs. Jimmy fell in the 9th over trying to defend a high rising ball. Shashank joined Natty but did not last long. Sparshith walked in and looked in great touch from the first ball. At the first drinks break Blazers stood tall at 81/2. Anirudh joined Sparshith in the middle after Natty got out around the 100 run mark. Anirudh continued his great form from the previous game and he along with Sparshith had an amazing 100+ run partnership. At the end of 30th over, Blazers were 191/3. Going into the 3rd session, both of them looked to up the runrate. Sparshith played some fabulous shots, one of which was a six straight down the ground that cleared the fence into the house. Anirudh on the other end always looked busy collecting 1’s and 2’s. Sathy joined Sparshith around the 35th over and both of them scored freely and quickly. Sparshith got out in the 42nd over after scoring a well made century. It was a treat to watch him bat from the sidelines. Tejas and Sathy finished the innings getting Blazers to a healthy total of 328/5.
Bay Area Innings: Blazers walked into the field knowing that SJ Panthers had scored big in their game against Spartans and they had Spartans at 20/6. So it was obvious that we had to bundle up Bay Area for the lowest score possible. Arun and Chetan started the proceedings with both of striking in their first over. Bay Area were soon 9/2 in 2 overs. Karthik, left handed and their best batsman walked in. With a couple of loose balls and some good shots they were 41 in 6 overs. Sathy was brought into the attack and he immediately delivers with a 3 wicket over (bowled top of leg, bowled top of middle and caught behind). After this it was just a matter of time to wrap up the innings. Sparshith and Chetan finished off the innings with both of them taking 2 wickets. Catching was top notch especially by Anirudh bucketing 3 skiers. Finally Arun made a mockery by getting the last wicket with a direct hit run out. It was amazing and amusing to see Arun pick up the ball at short mid wicket and hurl it in while the batsman was not even bothered to take a run. Bay Area were bundled up at 100.
