1st Session: The game started with a simple approach, win the toss, build partnership and play all 45. That’s exactly what happened when after winning the toss, Tejas decided to bat first. Natty and Raj started the innings with positive solid cricket. They both played freely scoring at will and using caution when needed. After a foundation of over 124 run partnership, Natty fell to a catch, in 25th over. Raj continued playing his game and was looking all set for a big score. But in the 29th over, he got out to a catch as well. This was already too late for Berkeley 2, and Blazers were set for a big score. Vijay S, Parth and Tejas all looked positive but were out over the next 6 overs. Arun A and Nachi had a decent partnership and after Nachi departed, all class Vijay G came in to push the runrate big time. His 19 in 7 balls, including a massive (all timed) six over mid wicket set the tone for what was going to come next. At the end of 45 overs, Blazers were at a colossal score of 262 for 9. Even after using 9 bowlers, they could not slow the scoring or get all 10 players out.
2nd Session: Chasing anything over 200 is a challenge on Ortega. It becomes that more more difficult when the Blazers bowling attack has Chetan, Sathy, Vijay G and Vijay S. None of their players could stay around for long and Blazers kept taking wickets at a steady rate. Lethal combination of spin and pace from either end bamboozled B – II and they folded in 88 runs and 30 overs. Special mention to the usual Raj S being lightening fast with his work behind stumps and Parth who is a legend when it comes to making far ground to grab some impossible catches! He grabbed onto 4 catches and all of them were just brilliant!
Positives: Great team work, good intensity, best fielding performance so far
Areas of improvement: Giving chances in batting, loss of concentration and losing wickets after making big scores
